Prepare

This watercolor is yet another Illustration Friday illustration. The word of the week is, “prepare”. This hiker is prepared for anything except the mockery of raccoons. Honestly, who can prepare for the ridicule of raccoons? The hiker reminds me of the first hikes my brother and I made. We were a great deal over prepared. You eventually learn that you don’t need to take much when you are going on day hikes.

Haha, nice. I like all the crazy stuff attached to his backpack. Geez, what a mean bunch of critters, making fun of the poor guy!

  2. Adrienne May says:

I like your startled hiker, and he is definitely prepared for everything except a bunch of raccoons. He’s lucky they’re not angling for his food supplies. 🙂

  3. I loved the raccoons or should I say Quatis? LOL

    • Haha, I’ll have to make them Quatis next time. Those Quatis sure are amazing animals.

    • Nathan says:

Best way to die ever: covered in beef honey and tossed into a pit of ravenous coati. Well actually, coati are members of the Procyonidae family and their name is reputably derived from the Tupian language group. We should convince some celebrity to adopt one as a pet after setting up the only sanctioned coati farm. Which idea do you support?

      • Nate,
I did not know that their name is reputably derived from the Tupian language group. You do realize that is a drawing with cute raccoons in it, right? There is not a coati within a hundred miles of that illustration.

  4. Nathan says:

Very well done. Like the ink work. I think those racoons are in for a rude surprise though; with all that crap the hiker is packing, I think he’s also packing some heat. “Mock me you fat procyonidae . . . .” Yeah, the guy reminds me of some novice hikers I have had the “pleasure” of watching ruin my hiking trips. Maybe the racoons are just going all John Muir on this guy.

  5. Nate,
He does look a little over prepared. Looks like us on our first hike in Chelsea way back in high school (Do you think we need to bring ten more cans of soup.. ya, sure!). He does have a knife; those raccoons should back off. Procyonidae,is the family of the order Carnivora which includes raccoons and Quatis (put that bookmark dictionary down!).

    The raccoons are great!

  7. Fergiemoto,
Thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment.
