Little Red Riding Hood Illustration

This is my illustration of Little Red Riding Hood on her way to grandmother’s house.   Red Riding Hood’s grandmother lives a long way from town.   The village seems safe compared to the dangers of the forest.   Her grandmother should considered a cottage in the village.

Very cool picture. I like the colors you use for the haunted forest- dark, soft washes that create a great backdrop for this tableau. I know what the wolf is up to, but what about the other animals? I bet the squirrel is just waiting to go after the discarded basket while the wise, but mute old is blinking as frantically as a Mance Mark V Heliograph. I don’t know about you, but I always imagine that some Haudenosaunee raiding party is about to scalp Little Red Ridding Hood or an Einsatzkommando is going to shoot her. Maybe that is what the wolf represents: the lurking danger on the way to Grandmas, like roadside deer or a drunk Santa.

  2. Nate,
Thanks for the comment. I think she is free from worrying about an Einsatzkommando. However, she does have to look out for that big bad wolf.
