This is a giant spider sketch I started during a meeting and completed over the weekend. This spider is likely to give any brave adventurer a case of arachnophobia.
One of the things I did this summer was go on a hike in the jungle with my family. We were in the jungles of Espírito Santo state in southeast Brazil. The jungle in Espírito Santo does not look like this illustration, but the hike inspired me to make this drawing. Fortunately, we did not run into any giant snakes, although our guide said one lived in the area. I imagine it is not as big as the one I created.
Here is my illustration of an Oni. Oni are a kind of supernatural ogre like creature in Japanese folklore. Oni are typically portrayed as hulking figures with horns growing out of their foreheads.
I took the inspiration for the face of the Oni from a photo I took at a traveling exhibit of samurai armor. The armor is from the Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Museum, in Dallas, Texas. I thought the face mask had a very Oni look.
